Royal Ranking System has subdivided into two ranks from lower and upper ranking. It has the same merit just like the original setting in the real world, while the system does not apply to Alzer Republic.

Holfort Kingdom[]

Category[]

There are three categories of the nobles of the Holfort Kingdom:

  • The members of royal households. The people that belong to this group are the royalties and blood relatives. They use Rapha as their middle name.
  • The royal court nobles. They are nobles who work as bureaucrats in the capital. While the royal court nobles do not own any territory, they have a court rank and receive an annual wage from the palace. The royal court nobles use Fia as a middle name.
  • The feudal lord. They are nobles who possess territories and use Fou as a middle name. Although the palace does not pay them any wage and demands their contribution, like tax and military support, the feudal nobles still enjoy some advantages. They are generally self-sustainable and less dependent on the kingdom than the royal court nobles. Additionally, they can still obtain court rank and has the right to meet the king.

Web Novel Rank Set[]

There's Rank 0 which divides it into two.

  2. Lower Rank 0: Demon Lord (魔王)

  8. (Lower/Upper) Rank 5: Viscount/Viscountess

Promotion[]

The nobles of the Holfort Kingdom can raise their rank through accomplishment and contribution to the kingdom. For example, Leon's father was a baron with a lower sixth rank. He then received a promotion to the upper sixth rank after the war with the Principality. Nonetheless, while one person can become a knight with the eighth and ninth rank through individual accomplishment and heritage, the promotion to the seventh rank and above requires consideration regarding the achievement of an entire household. All members have to serve the kingdom earnestly for three generations. Without significant feats, it usually takes a century for the noble below the sixth rank to receive a promotion.

Because the founders of the Holfort Kingdom were all great adventurers, people regard success in adventure and war as a great accomplishment. By contrast, The noble families, who never have any success as an adventurer or a soldier, are treated with disdains. Such a family includes the Earl Offrey household, a former merchant family who obtained their rank through a dubious scheme.

Typically, the lower third rank is the highest rank obtainable by people unrelated to the royal family. Leon is a notable exception. His promotions beyond the lower third rank were due to his extraordinary achievements and Roland's interference.
