Loic Leta Barielle (ロイク・レタ・バリエル, Roiku Reta Barieru) is a student at the Alzer Academy and a member of one of the six noble families & he is one of the capture targets in sequel game of otome game.

Appearance[]

He is described as a man born with good looks. He has orange hair and sharp eyes that can make any woman fall in love from a simple gaze.

Personality[]

Loic's psychopathic fixation with Noelle marked his character. According to Lelia, Loic strongly desired to monopolize things he liked, which also applied to romantic relationships. However, his desire for Noelle had eerily developed into a deranged possessiveness, where the mere idea of Noelle thinking of another man could drive him mad. As Noelle utterly rejected him and became romantically attracted to Leon, Loic's obsession worsened. Eventually, Loic's obsession had already reached the point where he was willing to use any method to obtain Noelle, no matter how vile or immoral they might be.

During the brief period when he dated Noelle, Loic was shown to be overbearing, self-centered, and a control freak. He consistently prioritized his own preferences, disregarding Noelle's desires or needs. Additionally, he showed no respect for Noelle as a person. Rather than know and understand her, Loic instead expected Noelle to become a woman of his taste. He actively reprimanded Noelle for her conduct and attempted to correct any perceived flaw he saw in her.

Obsession and jealousy filled Loic with hatred and anger, making him increasingly violent and volatile. Whenever he was alone with Noelle, Loic showed symptoms of an extreme mood swing. He could be kind and suddenly lashed out at Noelle for her defiance, and then he would be kind again. Moreover, he was deep in his delusion and unable to accept that Noelle would never love him back.

Loic's defeat at the hand of Leon and having a chance to reflect on his past actions finally snapped Loic out of his delusion. Combined with the loss of his crest and disownment by his family, Loic went under depression and became suicidal before being snapped out again by Marie. Nonetheless, the ordeal positively affects Loic, who finally begins reforming himself into a true gentleman. He becomes well-behaved and more restrained than he used to be. He also learns to be considerate and treats people respectfully.

Story Overview[]

Original Game Story: Otome Game
In the original game, he was one of Noelle's potential capture targets.

One of the bad endings included him putting the Sacred Tree Collar on Noelle and forcing her into marriage, however, as Noelle does not develop actual feelings for him, he does not become the Sacred Tree Guardian and they are unable to prevent the destruction of Alzer.

Background[]

Noelle had met Loic in the past and the two spent time together hanging out in the town, but Noelle realized that they weren't compatible when Loic shot down all of the things she wanted to do. Loic on the other hand gained an interest in Noelle and, with some encouragement from Lelia, began to pursue her, becoming her stalker.

Relationships[]

Loic had an unhealthy obsession with Noelle and had been stalking her for a time. Loic briefly dated Noelle in the past, and while they had a good start, their relationship quickly turned south. The main problem is that Noelle's sense of value is closer to commoner than noble, which makes her incompatible with Loic. To make matters worse, the self-centered Loic never bothered to understand Noelle and instead tried to mold her into an ideal woman for him. He constantly denied everything Noelle wanted, whether having a meal or shopping. His behaviors grew worse after receiving tacit support from Lelia. Loic increasingly treated Noelle like an object instead of a person. Realizing they were not a good match, Noelle broke up with Loic.

However, Loic, who had already developed a psychopathic obsession with Noelle, refused to let her go and began stalking Noelle. Loic often told others they were dating and acted hostilely to any men getting close to Noelle. He even resorted to dubious methods, such as threatening or blackmailing. His revolting obsession, however, only caused Noelle to hate him even more. Eventually, Noelle's hatred toward Loic reached the point where it was psychologically impossible for Noelle to love him.

As Noelle fell in love with Leon, Loic's jealousy and possessiveness worsened. After he managed to take Noelle away from Marie's mansion, Loic put the Sacred Tree collar on her and locked her in his family's mansion. While Noelle was his captive, she routinely suffered from Loic's abusive treatment. The unstable Loic constantly switches between being gentle and being violent. He quickly attacked Noelle whenever he felt irritated, even for the most trivial reason. And in the next moment, He would suddenly be kind toward her. Needless to say, his action did nothing but fuel Noelle's hatred for him.

The breaking point came during the marriage ceremony when Loic was denied the Guardian crest. The furious Loic grabbed Noelle's neck with both hands and tried choking her to death. Fortunately, Leon crashed the ceremony and rescued Noelle just in time. After his defeat at the hand of Leon, Noelle came to him and sadly explained the reason why she hated him. Loic had a chance to reflect on himself for the first time and realized he knew nothing about the girl he claimed to love.

After the incident, Loic felt great remorse for all he had done to Noelle and even became suicidal before Marie snapped him out. The two ultimately make peace with each other. However, Noelle still feels uncomfortable around Loic and prefers to stay distant from him.

Lelia supported Loic's feelings for Noelle, and tried to get Noelle to hook up with him. Loic has failed to realize that Lelia's reason for her actions was because she still believes that the two comings together would reach the ideal ending in the Otome game they are based on. In return, Lelia's indecisive and aggressive action inadvertently increases Loic's dark personality and high obsession towards Noelle. Lelia fails to foresee the consequences and it only advance the event to the bad ending that she's really trying to avoid at all. Despite learning this from Marie and the rescue mission of Leon to save Noelle from Loic, she's too stubborn to admit her mistake. Lelia still insists to believe that everything could've worked out between the two of them.

From the start, Loic disliked Leon for interrupting his affair with Noelle. However, his slight resentment eventually grew into a full-blown, murderous hatred after he sensed Noelle's romantic attraction to a foreign nobleman. Loic was so consumed by jealousy that he took it out on Noelle and planned to assassinate Leon. His accumulated hostility finally exploded during the failed wedding ceremony, where Loic psychotically rampaged in an attempt to kill Leon. Unfortunately for Loic, even with his best armor and the support from the Sacred Tree, he was no match for the hero of the Holfort Kingdom. He suffered an utter defeat and subsequently lost the Sacred Tree crest.

After being freed from his delusion, Loic began treating Leon more respectfully. He acknowledged his debt to Leon and intended to repay it while searching for a way to redeem himself. During Serge's coup attempt,  Loic volunteered to fight on Leon's side in the subjugation of the rebellion.

Loic is indebt with Marie and highly respected her after she had scolded him for choosing to die after what he had done towards Noelle. Marie told him that he must keep himself alive and searched the right way for his own redemption.

Abilities & Equipment[]

Like all Alzer Nobles, Loic possessed the Sacred Tree crest, allowing him to use power from the Sacred Tree.

Loic also owned a custom armor explicitly built for him; It had a large crimson frame with a sharp-looking design. Though the armor was made with an emphasis on appearance, its performance was several times higher than the standard armor of the Alzer Republic. The armor's primary weapons were a sword and fire magic.

Despite its impressive spec, Loic's pilot skills did not match his armor. Leon, who had a brief skirmish with him, deemed Loic, a second-rate pilot. His reaction was too slow, and he could not even fix the armor's posture in midair. Furthermore, Loic could not control the large amount of energy provided by the Sacred Tree, and his magic could only produce a shoddy result. Leon noted that Loic's fireball attacks only swelled up to a large size and had neither speed nor density.

Trivia[]

  • In the Otome game, he is described as a good man despite his personality. He is a potential love interest according to Lelia during the time she played it. If Noelle chooses to marry him, it will bring no harm at all.[1]
    • In the bad ending, Loic would put a collar on Noelle and confines her for the rest of her life. The results will eventually lead with no love developing between the two, no guardian for the sacred tree will be chosen, and the Alzer Republic will be completely destroyed.[2]
  • Marie stated in the game that it is forbidden to two-timing him at all as it will give 100% sure of bad end unless the player decided to have Noelle with Emile.
